The Gathering Place offers a safe and welcoming space by ensuring the safety of clients, volunteers, visitors and staff. The drop-in provides access to basic needs and supports using a community development approach by removing barriers accessing housing, income and employment opportunities.
The goal of the Gathering Place is to lower social isolation amongst our community members through access to supports that improve their quality of life.
Programs and Services
Meal Program: Offered 7 days a week
Monday – Thursday: 7:30 AM to 4 PM
Friday: 7:30 AM to 3 PM
Saturday – Sunday: 9 AM to 3 PM
No breakfast on Thursdays
No dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Showers: Open daily from 9 AM to 11:30 AM. Bathing and self-care supplies are provided, if available (sign up is required).
Housing Support: Clients are supported throughout the process from viewings, reference checks, budgeting and visiting potential homes.
Cultural Workshops: Sharing a diverse teachings traditional take-away crafts.
Food Bank: Premade boxes are available biweekly for all Toronto residents
Laundry Day: Held once a week (sign up is required).
Social Workshops: Activities and information sessions include: smoking cessation, bingo, creative arts, dinner & movie night and YMCA visits.
Placements: The Gathering Place welcomes volunteer placements, community service hours and post-secondary student placements to serve the Council Fire community.
