The Youth Pow Wow started in 2017 with Youth Sector Workers who wanted to have a Pow Wow for urban Indigenous families and Regent Park community members. As the organizing began, the youth insisted to recognize residential school survivors.
Toronto Council Fire’s youth identified a Youth Pow Wow Committee who met on a weekly basis to discuss roles and responsibilities including: fundraising, vendors, volunteer recruitment, set-up and take-down, permits, give-away prizes, food, and community outreach.
